ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
2010 MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL NOTICE
Dear CPAA Member,
As busy as 2009 was for the Calgary Professional Arts Alliance, 2010 is shaping up to be as busy! Last year the CPAA brought a new level of professionalism and creativity to its activities. The annual Mayor’s Evening for Business and the Arts (MEBA) was a huge success celebrating the partnerships between artists, arts organizations and local businesses with its sold out audience, participating artists, dueling painters and walking fashion art.
We also hosted a workshop with Calgary Arts Development and the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations on provincial policy entitled “Provincial Government: Inside & Out” followed by a reception with Minister for Culture and Community Spirit, the Honourable Lindsay Blackett, Board members from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Calgary MLAs. We also launched our new website format and member posting procedures at www.cpaa.ca.
It is expected that 2010 will be equally busy. The CPAA Board is also working on a renewed 3-year strategy plan, fundraising plan and membership drive. Plans are also being made for further workshops to benefit members on how to work with municipal government and agencies. The Mayor’s Evening for Business and the Arts committee is gearing up for another successful event, and we have identified at least two areas of concern for members advocacy: proposed changes to casino pooling and proposed changes to the fine arts curriculum in Alberta. The Annual General Meeting will be held in March/April and we hope to have a great member turn out to discuss these plans and issues.
But remember only up-to-date members can benefit with discounts to workshops, participate in the Mayor’s Evening for Business and the Arts, collectively work as agents of influence on issues of concern to the arts, and post information and artistic activities to the website. So be sure to renew your membership today!
2009 rates are still in effect! January is the month for membership renewal and the form is found under Membership or by clicking here.. So send it in today. Any members with outstanding accounts by February 15, 2010 will have their posting benefits removed without notice.
We hope that members will take an active interest in the CPAA. If you have other areas of concern or want to volunteer we want to hear from you. You can contact us at communications@cpaa.ca
On behalf of the Board of Directors we look forward to working with you all this coming year.
